Obtaining Information using Fishing & Shooting Questions.

I am a web design company and a client has come to me with their idea to create an online clothing business.  These are ten questions I would ask them BEFORE I create a draft sight for them.

1.   Describe the type of clothing business you see yourself as. (fishing)
2.   How much money do you want to spend on this site? (shooting)
3.   How much involvement do you want in the maintenance of this site? (fishing)
4.   List 5 descriptive words you would describe your desired look of the site. (shooting)
5.   Will you ship overseas? (shooting)
6.   What type of site do you like the look of?  (fishing)
7.   Do you need someone to take photos or will you supply them? (shooting)
8.   Do you need the written aspects of this site done or will you do them? (shooting)
9.   Do you need a logo designed? (shooting)

10.                 Who do you mainly sell clothes to?(shooting)

Mind Maps

Hamish Hall
October 2013

Above and below are minds maps for a a product.  The product is essentially myself as an artist.  These days its far more than just being a capable artist, you need to be able to sell yourself.  Marketing, media and skill are all part of the essential package.

Pumpkin Patch

This was super difficult, just trying to get used to the way flash is organised.  Very challenging.

Hero Shots

I took a photo of some clinkers on a white background then laid over the top some sexy cursive writing.  I re painted the clinkers the same brown as the background to give the website continuity.  I then gave it a slight gradient so it wasn't too harsh.

For this I used an image I had on my I phone I took of my house when it was for sale.  I desaturated the image, used the history brush to re open the red bits.  The greyscale works well with the limited palette of the original web page.  I kept the same simple font that was given in the example as it is very similar to the realestate.com one.

For this web page I took a photo of a hard hat to symbolise the council workers working for the community.  I faded it slightly so it wasn't too over powering.  I used the same brown that is used in the right panel for the font.  The font is similar to the logo used and I used the cursive writing to try and give it the personal touch.
